
Before writing the actual code on avaruuskerho.fi I drew mockups,
experimented with different designs and ran them through the board of the club. I was
able to come up with a rather spacey design, don't you think?

I served on the board of Tampereen teekkarien avaruusteknillinen kerho Castor
ry in 2019. During that time, it was my duty to create a new website for the
club. It is a static site based on the Netlify victor-hugo project and for a time it also
featured the Netlify CMS to allow easy content editing.


During my time at Neuro Event Labs Oy I had the opportunity to design their
fleet management system. The design process is documented on my Bachelor's
thesis. I was able to produce a clean and aesthetically pleasing UI using
the design language already in use in the company.

During the Covid lockdown of Bangkok in 2020 I had nothing to do, so I decided to ace the
Kasetsart University game development course. I decided to re-create one of
those Flash-based games I used to play as a kid and came up with this Unity
version. The process involved drawing all the sprites for the game and a matching UI.

29th of October, 2018. After taking a course which had mandatory lectures that
lasted for 20 minutes instead of the scheduled two hours, a lecturer who
barely spoke English and very poor communication from the course personnel I
started going through the course feedback in the university's systems. On the
scale of zero to five students had given this course a 3. As a matter of fact
about 94% of courses seemed to have a grade between 3 and 4.5. I reinvented
the scale. Frontend coded with React, data scraping done with Selenium.

CourseRobot is Python-made Telegram bot that brings the functionality of
Course-O-Meter directly to Telegram. It is also my first project using Docker.
The app is an inline bot, so it can be accessed from any chat.

Before starting my own website project, I used Affinity Designer to draw UI
sketches. It turned out to be a good decision, since arranging stuff on
a website is a lot easier in Affinity with code. In later redesigns I have also used
Sketch and Figma just to experiment with different tools.

Back in 2017 I decided that I need a website of my own. It took a year to decide what sort of
site to make and what technologies to use, but finally I decided to try
Next.js (at the time version was 6.1.1) which seemed an ultra-modern and interesting choice at the
time. The result is the very fast hybrid application you see before you. Behold! In retrospect the
choice of framework might not have been that successful: due to breaking changes in Next.js every few months
the site needs to be rewritten so often that it is a significant contributor to my JavaScript fatigue.
But hey, at least I learned a new framework.

the site has been visited before. The value is used to prevent the animated jere.pro logo from appearing

I heard about this Electron thing that lets you create desktop apps with web
technologies. I used it to create this program for reading comics stored in AWS S3
or any similar service.

During my time in Collateral Solutions I made designs and interactive
prototypes for the Collateral Solutions website, Evoir website and the Evoir
product itself. The prototypes were used in validating the product idea and
demonstrating the service to stakeholders.

When working at Collateral Solutions I programmed most of the frontend of the
product known as Evoir. I picked the key technologies used, designed the
architecture and implemented the authentication myself.


FTL Industries is a player community ("corporation") in the game Eve: Echoes. This
website existed as way to promote the corporation. It also included a
React-based calculator.

A web app for calculating various things for a game called Eve: Echoes. The
app's backend refreshes every 24 hours to retrieve new pricing data from an external
API. It also generates a new access token and sends it to FTL Industries' (a
game guild) Discord server. This solution prevents unauthorized access while
it still remains possible to share the service with corporation (guild)
members who do not have a Discord account.

In early 2019 Sysart contacted me. They wanted to increase their salary transparency, and
I designed and implemented a React application that shows anyone interested what they would earn
at Sysart. This calculator was later featured in [Ilta-Sanomat](https://www.is.fi/taloussanomat/art-2000006398206.html)
and was nominated as the recruitment deed of the year. Try it!

I used a Teensy 3.2 board (almost like an Arduino, but not quite) to make a device that uses
FFT to analyze music. The resulting information is then used to control an RGB LED in real time.
Yeah, I know the video doesn't look like much without the audio track. Sorry.

Logos was my first software project. After learning Python for the very first
time I figured that I had to do something to not forget how to use it. I
started the development of a bot. During all these years I have added several
features to the bot, such as wayfinding services, nysse-locator services, a
minesweeper game, information about the school's menus, weather forecasts and
so on and so forth.

My master's thesis involved a deep dive into dark patterns both theoretically
and empirically. For the empirical part I created two websites and a
backend with Lambda functions.

Muistola is a small company in Teisko, Tampere focusing on new (or old?) ways
of caring for the elderly. I had the opportunity to work with them in 2018. I
coded their website entirely by myself according to the UI plans I received. I
also became a .fi domain dealer in the process.

Neuro Event Labs is a Finnish company developing a video monitoring system for
epilepsy patients. During my time with them, one of my main duties was taking
care of the company's public website. I have now made three different versions
of the website. The latest revision was also one of my first projects using
Sass instead of plain CSS.

Pollex.club was the first website I created after neuroeventlabs.com. It
received a substantial redesign in 2019 and it runs on the same victor-hugo
generator as all of my newer static site projects. During this project I also
learned to use AWS S3, for it was originally hosted there.

I have not listed many school projects here because every university
graduate has done those same things. However, this is one succeeded exceptionally
well. The assignment was to design a product from a bunch of LEDs controlled by
a microcontroller. I came up with the idea of a quick-read code (2-dimensional barcode)
This particular code changes every few milliseconds. Modern smartphone cameras capture
up to 960 frames per second. Hence the name: 2 spatial dimensions and the fourth
(temporal) dimension.

4D QR code


This is a 7-minute academic debate timer app built with UIKit designed to work with Apple's 3D
touch display. One touch would pause or resume, hard press would reset the
timer. Apple has since decided to give up using pressure sensitive displays.

StaticCharge is the brand under which I sell static websites. It is designed by me and it is also the
first of my designs to feature a logo of my own making.

I was hired by construction material company STO Finexter to create a web
calculator that demonstrates the thermal isolation capabilites of their new
product. First the customer expressed interest in a table for displaying the
results, but after my recommendation we settled on a bar chart. You can see
the end result above.

I was a member of the debate society for three years. Eventually, there were talks
about making a new website. The debate society had previously had at least
three, all of which had been abandoned due to lack of maintenance. Therefore I created
a static site designed to outlive the society itself. I also designed the site myself. All of us were
very pleased with the result. As a bonus, I installed Netlify CMS to allow
non-coders to update the site as well.
